Segment

Energy

The Altamira Compressor Station project involved engineering, procurement and supply management, construction and pre-commissioning. The project was a major challenge for the company in Mexico, being the largest Greenfield compressor station project developed by the customer in their history, including three one-of-a-kind turbochargers.

Assembling the turbochargers involved joint work with the customer to schedule the arrival of the equipment and plan its assembly. Throughout the duration of the contract execution, Techint routinely exceeded the highest safety and quality standards required by the industry at national level.

Location

The state of Tamaulipas is located in northeast Mexico. To the north, it borders the Rio Grande, separating it from the United States, and to the east, it stretches out to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean (Gulf of Mexico). In the south it borders with Veracruz, with San Luis Potosí to the southwest and Nuevo León to the west.

  • Darryl Sandquist · Project Director, TC Energy

“It’s been a terrific experience working with Techint on this project. They delivered the largest gas compression station ever built by TC Energy on time and on budget."

  • Santiago Latuf · Project Manager

"This project is key for Techint, since it involves the construction of a compressor station for a leading customer in the region, such as TC Energy and, in turn, represents a milestone for the country."

  • Marco Pimentel · Construction Manager

“The main challenge presented by this project was the tight timeframe. We had to carry out a highly rigorous follow-up right from the moment we started building the dirt roads, in order to retune our strategies and allow us to move ahead with the work faster so that we could begin laying the main foundations on time.”
