The company took part in one of the region’s leading mining events. On this occasion, Techint E&C participated actively as a sponsor and speaker through Óscar Navas, Business Development Director – Andean Region, who delivered a presentation on Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) in large-scale mining projects, a key topic for the significant project pipeline expected to materialize in Peru, as well as in Chile and Argentina.

From September 9 to 11, the mining industry gathered in Lima for Expomina Peru 2026. The event’s tenth edition featured more than 1,250 exhibition stands and welcomed 85,000 visitors. It also brought together companies, suppliers, investors and delegations from more than 20 countries. This year’s agenda focused on attracting investment, sustainable development and the adoption of new technologies to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness.

Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori took part in the opening ceremony and highlighted that the country has a portfolio of 67 mining projects worth approximately US$64 billion. “The State must stop being a bureaucratic barrier for investors and our citizens and become an enabler of development,” she said.

At the Project Management Forum, Óscar Navas, Business Development Director – Andean Region, shared the company’s perspective on the value of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and the importance of integrating engineering and construction capabilities from the early stages of major mining projects.

“With ECI, the contractor becomes involved during the conceptual and basic engineering stages. Its experience in construction, operations and maintenance makes it possible to review the engineering, validate technical and logistical feasibility, and propose specific improvements before execution. This helps anticipate risks, avoid surprises and achieve greater predictability,” he explained.

During his presentation, he also highlighted Techint E&C’s role as an EPC company specializing in large-scale mining projects and its ability to address the entire project lifecycle: from project conception and pre-feasibility and feasibility studies through detailed engineering, construction and commissioning, while also adding value for the future operation and maintenance of the assets.

In Peru, Techint E&C built the water transportation systems for Mina Justa and Quellaveco, as well as a molybdenum plant at Toromocho, an open-pit copper mine in the Andes at an elevation of more than 4,000 meters. In Chile, meanwhile, the company has executed nearly 80% of the major water pumping systems developed for the mining industry. This year, it completed C20+ and is nearing completion of SADDN, a major project integrating a desalination plant, marine works and a water pumping system for the Northern District.

Recently, the company was awarded an EPC contract to execute a new water pumping system for the mining industry in Chile. It is also currently participating in various development processes for future projects that will enable it to continue supporting its clients in their upcoming challenges.

Finally, in Argentina, Techint E&C is already working at an early stage on large-scale mining developments, combining its local experience with its expertise in managing major projects in the country.

As part of ExpoMina, representatives of Techint E&C also participated in the first edition of the CESCO LatAm Dinner Peru 2026, held on September 9 in Lima. Organized by Chile’s Centro de Estudios del Cobre y la Minería (CESCO), the dinner brought together more than 570 attendees, including government authorities, business leaders, investors and strategic suppliers, providing an opportunity to generate new collaboration opportunities for the Latin American mining industry.

Techint E&C’s presence at both events provided an opportunity to share knowledge, reinforce its positioning in the development of Peru’s and Latin America’s mining sector, and strengthen relationships with other key industry stakeholders.
