For more sustainable energy
Published 14.2.2023
For many countries around the world, February 14 is World Energy Day, whose aim is to raise awareness about responsible energy use. Here we tell you a little more about the importance of the date and how Techint Engineering & Construction is working to ensure cleaner and more sustainable energy for all.
World Energy Day is about encouraging people to reduce their reliance on non-renewable energy sources and move to alternative ones such as solar, wind and biomass, which help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative is enshrined in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 7, which seeks to “ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.”
Everybody can contribute in small and simple ways to saving energy in their daily lives, for instance, by being aware of how equipment and household appliances use power even when not being used. Televisions, chargers and microwaves, among other devices and equipment, should be switched off, unplugged, or put on passive standby mode when not in use.
At Techint E&C, we are committed to using safer and more sustainable energy, aiming to reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources, for example, by installing solar panels on the roof, or researching new technologies for our projects that would represent a considerable reduction in the electricity consumed by our activities.
We’re also working on the construction of the Buena Ventura Wind Farm in the locality of Gonzales Chaves, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, which will supply 50% of the electricity required by the Tenaris industrial center in Campana, helping to reduce CO2 emissions at one of the most modern industrial facilities in the country.
