The company recently acquired a total of 64 machines with improved performance, safety and energy efficiency, incorporating them to its fleet.
With the objective of strengthening its commitment to efficiency and sustainability in its operations, Techint Engineering and Construction renewed part of its fleet of equipment for pipeline projects, incorporating 64 state-of-the-art machines. This strategic investment aims to optimise operational performance, raise safety standards and minimise environmental impact.
The renewal is part of the company's focus on continuous improvement and responds to the high standards of the international market, particularly in Chile, where gas emission regulations are as stringent as those in Europe and the United States.
In this context, Carlos Capelli Etchevarne, expert at the Heavy Equipment Technical Office, highlights: “This equipment promotes sustainability by complying with European emission standards for engines and reducing energy consumption. In addition, it incorporates load control and remote monitoring systems that improve operator safety and help prevent potential accidents.”
Among the most relevant features of the new equipment are:
· Padders and Self-Propelled Screens: With a screening area that is 20-30% larger than previous models, this equipment is designed to optimise material separation performance.
· Sidebooms: Sixteen hydraulic pipelayers have been incorporated, offering 40% lower fuel consumption compared to previous models, and featuring a real-time monitoring system for lifted weight and overload alerts.
· Caterpillar PL72 Sidebooms: This modern version includes a Vanguard module that adds additional capabilities such as a generator and compressor, improving its functionality and efficiency in the field.
· Pipewelders: Advanced equipment with significant load capacities and a design that allows for easy adaptation to different uses, ensuring flexibility in operation.
· Benders: Five CRC units have been purchased, covering a range of pipe diameters and ensuring compatibility with existing equipment in the Techint E&C fleet.
· Pumps: High-pressure and filling pumps offering exceptional performance, powered by state-of-the-art engines, have been incorporated.
· Astra trucks: These robust vehicles are essential for operating in difficult terrain, such as that found in the Interconexión Project in Chile, which is being developed at high altitude.
Strategic vision
Germán Valdora, Heavy Equipment Manager, points out the importance of this acquisition: “These additions always involve a challenge, with specific learning curves and timelines, but after an initial phase, the benefits are exponential and the results are surprising. It is always worth investing to continue improving and growing.”
Thanks to these improvements, Techint E&C reaffirms its leadership in the industry, driving innovation in its operations with the aim of building a more efficient and sustainable future for the sector.
