Committed to safety and sustainability in Chile

Published 14.3.2025

Making great progress in our preventive management, at Techint Engineering & Construction, we’ve joined two initiatives: the Sello PRO, organized by the Chilean Construction Chamber, and the Mutual’s Safety Culture Program.

A seal for commitment

Sello PRO (PRO Seal) is an initiative led by the Chilean Construction Chamber (CChC), designed to foster greater commitment on the part of the construction industry to sustainability and to making a positive impact on the environment. The program is founded on seven fundamental pillars:

1. Workers & Productivity

2. Occupational Health and Safety

3. Community

4. Environment

5. Value Chain

6. Innovation

7. Governance

Techint Engineering & Construction has just signed up to the program “Sello PRO Empresa” which spotlights sustainability in the industry, and recognizes the efforts made by companies to embed sustainability into every aspect of their operations. This program serves as a way to promote a sustainable transformation for the construction industry in Chile, encouraging companies to adopt responsible practices that benefit both the sector and society in general.

Since its launch in 2020, Sello PRO has been making waves across the sector. In July 2024, for example, 29 companies were recognized with the PRO Company Seal by the Chilean Construction Chamber (CChC) for their dedication to sustainable practices in key areas such as workplace safety, environmental management, and community relations.

Safety in Action: building trust together

In late 2024 the Safety Culture program, was launched, in an initiative organized by the Mutual de Seguridad, in collaboration with the Andean Area Steering Committee of Techint E&C. The Committee is composed by Claudio Perillo, President Andean Region, Daniela Asenjo, Human Resources Manager, Marcos Cavalli, HSE Director Andean Region, Ricardo Juan, Project Manager (C20+), Rodrigo Larralde Campos, Deputy Project Director (SADDN), Marco Matranga, Project Director (SADDN), Waldo Molina, O&M Services Manager, Oscar Navas, Business Development Director Andean Region, Marcelo Quezada, Project Manager (Interconnection), and María Pinto, HSE Manager Andean Region.

The “Safety Culture” program is structured around six stages. The first phase—the diagnostic phase—will take place in the first half of 2025. It involves an individual, anonymous questionnaire, where employees are encouraged to respond with complete honesty about their safety experiences.

“This program is an extremely valuable tool that will help us take our safety culture to the next level—helping us prevent accidents and strengthen how we work together on safety, no matter your area or department. The idea is to take a collective approach to identifying our biggest challenges and greatest strengths in terms of prevention, and use these insights to take proactive steps towards continuous improvement. We’re also planning to create dedicated spaces where everyone can share ideas and feedback about how we approach safety and prevention. This will help us chart our course, improving all-around management,” said Marcos Cavalli.

Both programs seek to strengthen our preventive culture and to raise our demanding quality standards in order to get closer to our final goal of zero accidents.
