At the event, the company took part in a business session where the most challenging mining projects were shared.
EXPOMINAS, a renowned strategic event held in Ecuador from July 10 to 12, attracted over 5,000 attendees from the sector and 400 companies from 12 countries, including Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Finland, Germany, Austria and China. Techint Engineering & Construction actively participated at the meeting, which plays a fundamental role in promoting the development of advanced technologies and fostering a modern and ethical mining industry worldwide.
During the inauguration, Ecuador's Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Goncalves, highlighted: “Ecuador is located in the copper and gold belt alongside Chile, Peru, and Colombia, with vast areas to explore, approximately 3.17 million hectares granted in concessions.”
For Luis Camacho, Contracts Administration Manager of Techint E&C in Ecuador, the mining context in the country presents both significant opportunities and challenges. “The country's mineral wealth, especially in copper and gold, attracts investors from all over the world. However, modern infrastructure and sustainable practices are necessary for the sector's development”, he said. He also emphasized: “Service companies like Techint E&C play a fundamental role in this scenario, supporting mining companies in implementing strategies that promote sustainability and collaboration between these companies and mining companies is essential to achieve balanced and responsible growth.”
According to Gabriel Martínez, Engineering Sr. Manager in Ecuador, the engineering capacity of Techint E&C to develop projects in the Ecuadorian mining industry is strong and constantly evolving, as demonstrated by the development of innovative technologies and advanced methodologies in mining projects such as those we are currently undertaking in Chile. He pointed out: “Besides having engineering centers worldwide, our local engineering team in Ecuador is at the forefront in developing solutions that not only meet international standards but also position us as leaders in the sector.”
Visibility and networking
Techint E&C actively participates in networking initiatives, engagement with key players, and visibility through various chambers, such as the Ecuadorian Chamber of Mines, the Chamber of Industries and Production, and the Ecuadorian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “These platforms create business opportunities to connect key operators in the country, such as mining companies, with service providers. However, we also seek to participate with technical talks,” stated Luis Camacho.
In this regard, Martín Scalabrini Ortiz, Corporate Senior Technical Commercial Manager, mentioned: “It is important for us to participate in events like this to showcase our capabilities and experience to a market with growth potential. It is a significant environment to stay in contact with potential clients and network. On the other hand, understanding the needs and issues of mining in Ecuador allows us to develop tailored solutions.” He concluded: “My role is to provide specific technical knowledge and experience from the Engineering area in approaching potential clients who recognize the added technological value and differentiation in an engineering and construction company like ours, enabling us to connect with different industry players and position ourselves as a valuable option in the path of energy transition and sustainable mining.”
The company's challenge in the next semester is to take advantage of the opportunities offered by these chambers and reinforce Techint E&C's message through in-person technical talks to convey industrial standards and best practices.
“We have a strong commercial challenge in the coming months and must leverage the different opportunities to reinforce our image through high-value in-person or virtual technical talks for our various stakeholders,” Camacho stated. He concluded: “It is important to maintain direct and ongoing contact with decision-makers within mining companies to be recognized as a strategic ally for their current and future projects.”
