The safety milestone was celebrated in Brazil with the presence of the CEO of Techint Engineering and Construction, Oscar Scarpari. The event coincided with the third anniversary of the beginning of the first continuous service contract for the client.
The MOA-Usiminas project reached 3,000,000 hours worked without accidents involving leave and to celebrate this milestone the “Safety of Millions” event was organized, which brought together about 200 employees in the Togashi auditorium at the steel plant in Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, on May 17.
Oscar Scarpari, CEO of Techint E&C, was present at the celebration and highlighted: “This safety milestone means that our professionals returned home in the same way they left in the morning, without accidents involving leave, without injuries, so they can continue to do what we love to do: be with our family and friends. I also thank our client, Usiminas, because undoubtedly safety is a team effort. Congratulations to everyone!”
An unprecedented agreement
Signed in 2021, the contract provides Managed Workforce (MOA) focusing on electromechanical assembly services for Usiminas, one of the leaders in flat steel in the country and the main supplier for the automotive industry.
At the opening of the event, Rodrigo de Almeida, Project Manager, said: “We have evolved a lot in these three years, we have understood well the operationalization of this contract model, and this learning has never lost sight of our purpose which is the tireless pursuit of a safe work environment. Safety is a non-negotiable value for Techint.”
This contract was initially set to expire in May 2024, but it was recently extended to increase its duration.
In three years of the contract, 366 service orders were executed, 31,601 training hours were completed, and nearly 1,000 employees were at the peak of the works.
“I thank Usiminas for the trust and partnership over these three years, and each member of the MOA project. Without you, we would not be here celebrating this important milestone for the company,” commented Guilherme Pires.
