Techint E&C reinforces its commitment to inclusion

The partnership with the Rede Empresarial de Inclusão Social (REIS) marks the company's engagement to accessibility practices in its operations.

Techint Engineering and Construction in Brazil took a significant step in advancing workplace inclusion by officially joining the Social Inclusion Business Network (REIS in Portuguese) during an event at its São Paulo headquarters on October 10. About 20 company leaders joined representatives from REIS to formalize a commitment to increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities and to set goals for the years ahead.

REIS, a non-profit organization linked to the International Labor Organisation’s Global Inclusion Network, has been championing professional integration for people with disabilities in Brazil for over 12 years. With a reach spanning more than 12 Latin American countries and approximately 40 national networks around the world, REIS aids companies in their efforts to break down accessibility barriers in the labor market.

Michele Aráujo, Community Relations and D&I Manager, highlighted the significance of this move: “This agreement reinforces the significance of inclusion as one of the core pillars of our work. We believe in the transformative potential of people, and this step brings us closer to creating a truly inclusive workplace.”

“It’s not just about meeting quotas; it’s about fostering a culture where everyone has the chance to grow and thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Our goal is to open doors and make this commitment a fundamental part of our long-term strategy,” added Vilson Rigon, President of Techint E&C in Brazil.

The signing of the agreement capped off the event, marking the start of a new chapter for the company as it commits to ramping up efforts to support people with disabilities (PwD). The partnership with REIS brings fresh tools and technical support to the table and will be especially valuable in the move to overcome the challenges of integration in some of the more remote areas where the company operates.

Diogo Vicente, the representative of the People with Disabilities Pillar within the company’s Diversity and Inclusion Program, shared his enthusiasm for the alliance: “This partnership means a great deal to all of us. Our aim is to go well beyond the need to meet quotas and instead transform Techint E&C into a model of inclusivity—one where people with disabilities can grow alongside the company.”
