For the sixth time running, the company topped the Ethos/Época Survey list.
The Ethos/Época Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 2024 Survey recognized Techint Engineering & Construction as one of the companies with the best diversity practices in the industry. This is the sixth time running that the company has featured as a leader in the survey, held by Instituto Ethos jointly with Época Negócios magazine and widely considered to the most comprehensive of its kind. Techint E&C distinguished itself among its peers, the seven other companies in the segment. Over 200 companies took part in the survey as a whole.
There were twelve areas evaluated by the survey and Techint E&C scored highest in those such as Strategies for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion and Diversity and Governance. It improved its performance compared with the previous year in areas such as Promotion of gender, racial, LGBTQIA+ rights, and the Promotion of Generational Equity. The research project is coordinated by the Ethos Institute in partnership with the Center for the Study of Labor Relations and Inequalities (Centro de Estudos das Relações de Trabalho e Desigualdades, CEERT), the Business Coalition for Racial and Gender Equity (Coalizão Empresarial para Equidade Racial e de Gênero), the Business and LGBTI+ Rights Forum (Fórum de Empresas e Direitos LGBTI+), the Movimento Mulher 360, the Corporate Social Inclusion Network (Rede Empresarial de Inclusão Social), and Época Negócios, which belongs to the Globo publishing group.
Among its main actions, Techint emphasizes the inclusion of diversity in its compliance-related risk matrix. The idea behind this is to mitigate undesirable internal practices, assess impact and create value for the business. It includes confirming processes that envisage terminating a contract if the non-discrimination clause for suppliers is not complied with, in addition to the creation of the Generational group as part of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which adds the issue of young people and those over 50 to the array of diversity initiatives.
“We are very much aware of the important role played by women and more diverse people, generally in a sector like ours which is quite conservative. This recognition shows that we are on the right path,” says Vanessa Mota, Human Resources Sr. Manager.
