Against all odds

Watch this video to learn about the story behind the construction of the El Bracho thermoelectric power plant in Tucuman, one of the most challenging projects of recent years.

Just about everything that could happen, did. From the sinking of the cargo vessel bearing vital parts for the work, to the emergency transport of major pieces of equipment in massive cargo planes, and the COVID-19 pandemic that forced all work plans to be recalculated.

However, in the minds of all those involved in the El Bracho project to build a combined cycle thermoelectric power plant in the northern province of Tucuman, Argentina, there was only one thing on the agenda: to fix all the problems and finish the project that would bring power to over 2 million homes.

Finally, in October 2020, they achieved this objective: project partners GE –in charge of Project Management, Engineering and Procurement– and Techint –as the main subcontractor of the civil and electromechanical works– joined their customer YPF Luz to start up the plant, celebrating this major achievement.
