As the project to build the Hot Rolling Mill for the Ternium Industrial Center in Pesqueria, Mexico, draws to an end, Pablo Bassi, Responsible for Engineering, Environment, Safety and Industrial Coordination on behalf of the customer, shares his belief that, “Techint is a top-notch supplier because of its high safety standards, I think this is a huge differentiation with regard to others in the industry.”

A vast project requiring 9 million construction hours and involving 2,300 employees at the peak of activity with an investment of USD 1.14 billion, the Ternium Industrial Center Hot Rolling Mill in Pesqueria, Mexico, today has the capacity to produce over 4 million tons of specialized steel per year.

“Over the years, Techint E&C has helped us build our new mills and led major revamping work for our production lines,” explains Pablo Bassi, who is in charge of Engineering, Environment, Safety and Industrial Coordination at Ternium.

As regards this particular project, he explains that the principal challenges were the sheer size of the work and the tight timeframe. "In Mexico, we see Techint as a top-notch supplier because of its high safety standards, I think this is a huge differentiation with regard to others in the industry," he says.

The secret is that both companies, Ternium as a customer and Techint as a supplier, worked as partners in harmony to reach a common goal. “This is not something just anyone can do,” points out Bassi, adding that, “only a company able to share our degree of commitment can achieve this standard of work. This sense of being able to do things, its ability to tackle even the greatest challenges, is something that has always set Techint apart.”
