International Women's Day in Engineering: Techint E&C promotes female inclusion in the industry

Published 23.6.2025

Techint E&C celebrates International Women's Day in Engineering by highlighting the testimonies of female professionals who have benefited from its Inclusion and Training Programme and who are now helping to build a more inclusive industry.

On International Women's Day in Engineering, Techint Engineering and Construction highlights its Female Workforce Inclusion and Training Programme, an initiative that seeks to empower women in the engineering and construction sector. Through testimonials from women who have benefited from the Programme, the company reaffirms its commitment to a more diverse and inclusive industry.

This date, celebrated every June 23, was promoted by the Women's Engineering Society in the United Kingdom and has been supported by UNESCO since 2017. Its aim is to highlight the achievements of women in a field that still faces significant challenges in terms of gender equality.

According to UNESCO data, only 28% of people researching engineering and technology globally are women. In some sectors, that figure is even lower. The lack of representation highlights the urgent need to open up more spaces for women at all stages of work, from design to field operations.

In this context, Techint E&C promotes a culture of concrete inclusion. Its training programme is designed to encourage girls and women to choose STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers, offering them technical training and soft skills development. The goal is clear: to enable them to take on challenging roles today and lead projects tomorrow.

Since its launch in March 2022 in Chile, the initiative has already trained more than 200 women in different profiles: civil assistants, operators and other key functions. In 2024, the programme took a further step and arrived in Argentina, with a pilot experience in the Duplicar project that included 13 participants.

The results are reflected in the voices of those who have already gone through this experience. Romina Olivares, PyCP Project Assistant in Neuquén (Argentina), says it was a turning point in her working life: ‘The programme shows that there is room for us in this industry, and every step we take opens the way for many more,’ she said.
