Music and safety

Published 10.2.2025

Antônio Carlos, MASS assistant at Techint Engineering and Construction, is revolutionizing the way messages from his area are communicated in the workplace through his love for instruments and melodies.

Now 46, Antônio Carlos has transformed Daily Safety Dialogues (DDS) into vibrant and engaging moments by incorporating original tunes that resonate with his co-workers. For this valued collaborator of the LTA-Ternium project, workplace safety goes beyond compliance; it is an essential component of ensuring an effective work environment. Recently, he added a creative touch to talks on the subject, using his guitar and cavaquinho  —a kind of Brazilian ukulele— to present important messages in an accessible and enjoyable way. “Music is a universal language that allows us to communicate vital messages in a relaxed and laid-back way,” shares Antônio.

From a young age, music has been an integral part of his life. He began playing the guitar at the age of 12 and, over the years, fell in love with the cavaquinho. In more than a year and a half of working on the LTA-Ternium project, he took the initiative to combine his musical passion with his commitment to safety by adapting popular songs with lyrics that promote a safe work environment. The response was overwhelmingly positive; his colleagues soon joined in this musical celebration, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie.

Music is also a source of joy in his home, where his wife plays the keyboard and his sons, João Pedro and Guilherme, are immersed in the musical world. “It's wonderful to see my family share this passion that unites us,” he says proudly.

Antônio is a fervent admirer of gospel, as well as genres such as Brazilian popular music and bossa nova. His inspiration comes from the divine and from nature, and he describes music as an avenue for connection and expression of gratitude.

With his innovative approach, Antônio Carlos exemplifies how talent and commitment can align to increase job security, highlighting the importance of cultivating an environment where safety and fun can coexist. “Just as in music, in a project everyone must be on the same page to achieve the best results. Each person has an essential role in this composition,” he concludes.
