Juan Carlos Erazo Chulde’s career has taken him far beyond his native Ecuador. As an electronics and control engineer, he now works in the field of Instrumentation, where his dedication and discipline have earned him recognition on major international projects.
“I have always believed that when you’re assigned a task, you should complete it to the best of your ability, ensuring quality and optimizing execution time,” says Juan Carlos Erazo, his humility shining through as he reflects on his work ethic. This mindset has been key to his achievements working on major projects like the Dos Bocas refinery in Mexico, where the Ecuadorian played a vital role, supporting the Technical Office department for Cogeneration. His work involved coordinating and verifying construction activities in the field. “It was quite a challenge, but also an incredible opportunity to grow professionally,” he adds.
At 41, Juan Carlos has built an impressive career since joining Techint Engineering & Construction in 2019, thanks to a friend who encouraged him to send in his resume. Since then, he’s contributed to high-impact projects across Latin America, including in Argentina, Chile and Colombia. While each project has brought its own challenges and complexities, he points to Dos Bocas as one of the defining moments of his career. “Seeing a project of that scale up close was awe-inspiring, the sheer size of the installation is truly breathtaking,” he recalls with enthusiasm, highlighting his work supervising the gas and steam turbines.
Juan Carlos Erazo’s journey is a testament to perseverance and confidence—not only in his own skills, but in the support he’s received along the way. “The company has given me the chance to tackle great challenges. Despite initial fears, I believe I’ve overcome each one with responsibility and commitment,” he shares. “There are people who trust me, and I thank them by giving my best personal and professional contribution to every project I’m assigned.”
But his success is about more than technical expertise. It’s also about the relationships he’s built along the way. “In Mexico, we didn’t just develop a professional working relationship—we formed a brotherhood,” he says, recalling the strong bonds forged with his coworkers. “That made my time on the project even more meaningful.”
Currently, Juan Carlos is at the helm of the Instrumentation area in the Campo Pendare project in Colombia. But his ambitions don’t stop there. He’s open to new international opportunities and eager for the challenges they bring. “I want to continue contributing to large-scale projects, where the stakes are higher. There’s always something new to learn,” he adds confidently.
Juan Carlos’s story is a shining example of how dedication and the desire to excel can open doors around the globe. “I never imagined I’d be working on projects in other parts of the world from my home in Ecuador,” he reflects. “But today, I can proudly say I’m ready for any challenge that comes my way,” he says. With a smile that speaks of satisfaction and ambition, Juan Carlos is proof that success is built on perseverance, passion and a constant eye on the horizon.
