For the second consecutive year, Techint E&C carried out a new edition of the Volunteers in Action program at María de Guadalupe School, located in the Las Tunas neighborhood of General Pacheco. The initiative aimed to improve the school’s infrastructure and support a project developed by the students themselves.
Held on October 4, the event brought together employees, their families, and members of the school community for a day marked by teamwork and shared commitment. Throughout the day, volunteers renovated the kindergarten playground, painted murals, built a vegetable garden, and added a pedestrian path and bike lane to improve circulation and safety around the school.
In addition, new urban furniture was installed, designed with pieces produced using Techint E&C’s 3D concrete printer—an example of how technological innovation can be applied to projects with a positive social impact.
According to Luján Nölter, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, part of the improvements originated from a sixth-grade student proposal called Proyecto Transitando, aimed at enhancing traffic safety around the school. “The students identified the need for a bike lane and a pedestrian path to organize vehicle traffic. Based on their idea, we added urban furniture so families can wait in a safe and comfortable space,” she explained.
Beyond the work itself, the activity fostered stronger connections between employees and the local community. Mauricio Mare, Chief & Digital Information Officer, joined the event with his daughter Juana: “Techint E&C places great value on engaging with the communities where we operate. Being able to share this experience with family makes it even more meaningful.”
From Mumbai, Hanmant Salunkhe, Piping Specialist Design Checker, highlighted the global nature of the initiative: “We are happy to participate because it’s a cause that directly benefits the students and the community.”
Through initiatives like Volunteers in Action, Techint E&C reaffirms its commitment to education and sustainable community development, strengthening relationships and generating a positive impact beyond each project.
